Full-Time Special Needs Coordinator

Department: Special Needs
Location: Little Rock, AR

Position Summary:

The Embrace Special Needs Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and directing all Sunday morning volunteers and curriculum, assisting with all Embrace events, and assisting with all administrative tasks for the Special Needs Ministry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate supplies and volunteers for all Special Needs classrooms and Fellowship Kids Buddies in typical Fellowship Kids classrooms
  • Develop promotional materials, help with all events via CRF’s, eSpace requests, and event registrations
  • Work with Fellowship Kids Staff regarding children who have special needs or disabilities by building relationships with Fellowship Kids volunteers and communicating with them about children with special needs in their area and how to better meet the children's needs
  • Attend weekly Special Needs Staff and monthly All Staff and Family Ministry meetings
  • Adapt curriculums for all classrooms and develop ways to connect with the individuals in our ministry
  • Assist and attend all large Special Needs Ministry events as needed
  • Build and maintain encouraging relationships with parents of the ministry by communicating with them about their child/children
  • Handle volunteer communications and scheduling while building encouraging relationships with them
  • Support volunteers and one-on-one Buddies in Special Needs and Fellowship Kids classrooms on Sunday mornings by aiding with special issues or situations that may arise
  • Assist the Special Needs Pastor volunteer recruitment efforts and trainings
  • Assist with planning and executing Under the Stars event and Escape Retreat
  • Assist with volunteer appreciation and training
  • Build and maintain relationships with volunteers on Sunday mornings and throughout the week
  • Continue to create with new ways to encourage volunteers and enhance their training
  • Develop ways to recruit volunteers in the community for respite nights and Wednesday nights
  • Responsible for Respite Day including volunteer recruitment and registration, family registration, planning activities, and coordinating meals for volunteers
  • Merge special needs curriculum with current curriculum to enhance students’ learning experience
  • Develop material to send home to assist parents in reinforcing the curriculum
  • Set up for all Embrace events and be present when needed
  • Onboard new volunteers and maintain current records for both new and existing volunteers ensuring compliance with Fellowship’s Policies and Procedures including a current background check and Ministry Safe certification for all volunteers
  • Responsible for prom closest for Under the Stars
  • Lead a small group time in each Embrace classroom each week
  • Ensure that volunteers are following schedule and curriculum guidelines weekly
  • Responsible for maintaining all social media output
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • College Education (preferred)
  • Nonprofit or ministry experience a plus
  • Experience working with the special needs community a plus Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and creating flyers on Canva
  • Proficient in Facebook and Instagram for posting to Special Needs Ministry pages
  • Has an awareness and heart for the special needs community
  • Initiates well on their own anticipating needs
  • Is hardworking and is willing to check things off the list
  • Can adapt curriculum for different degrees of understanding
  • Able to balance multiple tasks in an effective and efficient manner
  • Relates comfortably with parents, students, and volunteers
  • Serves and operates well in team environment
  • Can organize details and communicate them well

  • A heart to serve the Lord and grow his Kingdom
  • If not a member of Fellowship Bible Church, will commit to going through the membership process
  • Regular involvement in Fellowship Bible Church activities and events
  • Signed acknowledgement of Fellowship Bible Church’s “Confession of Faith” form
  • Signed acknowledgement to policies and procedures as stated in Fellowship Bible Church’s Employee Manual
  • Living out the spiritual principles outlined in the “Code of Conduct”

Work Schedule:

  • Sunday 7:45am - 12:45pm
  • Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm
  • Schedule is subject to adjustment during major events
